I ordered the tp holder and it looks well made and seems like it will work great. I haven't been able to use it yet since I’m still waiting for my molle panels to come in.
I like the toilet paper holder a lot. It looks fantastic, works pretty well, and is hilarious. Just look at it. For the haters. Priceless! It also helps keep my truck tidy. I had a toilet paper roll that always floating around in the back for years, but since getting my 4Runner and the Rago panels, I've been tidying things up bit by bit.
I do have a bit of a customized usage for it, and I may customize it a bit further. I tried using actual toilet paper with it originally, but toilet paper didn't really work great with my usage case. I instead cut down a paper towel roll to toilet paper size and installed it in the toilet paper's place. Now I have the sturdier paper towel to use to clean off my radio control truck. It's been very useful for that purpose since I installed it, and I use it, conditions permitting, just about every weekend. I imagine this would be useful for cleaning off hunting equipment, shovels, or other equipment that might get dirty that you'd want to haul around. If you have the plastic mat for the back of your 4Runner, the mat combined with the paper towels keeps the soft surfaces very clean.
A drawback of it is that it could stand to extend out from the panel just a little bit more. For a standard toilet paper roll, the holder itself squeezes on the roll. It does work to help keep the roll from unraveling, but it is still a little too tight for my tastes. It also becomes a problem eventually the more you use the roll. The way I mitigate both ends of this issue is to install a roll after using one for a little while at home and keep a rubber band around the roll when it's not in use. It looks like you could slip in another set or two of washers with the included hardware and still keep everything secure, so I may make that modification one day in order to have the holder jut out just a little bit more.
I've been very slow to add things to my Rago panels since getting them last year, but my experience with this toilet paper holder has been very confidence-inspiring. If Rago makes a proper paper towel holder, I'll definitely pick it up and return this unit to its intended purpose of holding toilet paper. In the meantime, I've got other things to look at to make usage of my panels this spring!
I came across this little toliet paper mod one day while scrolling through Instagram, and knew I had to get one, I couldn't stop laughing! Ordered it that day and had it in my hands and installed in less than a week. Looks great, gives people a good laugh, and is the amazing Rago soild quailty you can expect from any of their products.
