The Next Overland Beast: 6th Gen Toyota 4Runner Teardown

Check out the newest edition to our Rago fleet: The 6th Gen Toyota 4Runner. Our brand new 2025 TRD Offroad 4Runner boasts some cool upgrades over its predecessor, and we are excited to break down each feature for those of you who are looking to secure a new overland rig. 

Our 4Runner features the TRD Off-road package in a stunning Underground Grey. It comes with an upgraded set of wheels and tires compared to the lower trim levels for added off-road utility. The 4Runner’s suspension consists of Bilstein monotube shocks with a remote reservoir that provide a smoother off-road driving experience. The 4Runner also offers an electronic locking rear differential that can be easily engaged for better traction when hitting the trail. This trim level features a Multi-Terrain System that helps regulate wheelspin for retaining proper traction when on different terrain types. It also offers a Crawl System that automatically manages the speed of your 4Runner for help navigating difficult off-road obstacles.

The 6th Gen’s TRD Off-Road interior feels very similar to the 4th Gen 4Runner. Higher trim levels such as the TRD Off-Road Premium and Limited feature a larger infotainment system and SofTex or Leather seats. The center console on the TRD Off-Road features quick access controls for the Multi-Terrain System, Crawl System, locking rear differential, and the 4WD shifter.

For those of you who utilize your 4Runner’s rear space for sleeping on camping trips, you’ll be glad to hear that the 6th Gen offers a substantial amount of room in the back. While the rear seats don’t lay completely flat, they do fold forward for maximizing the trunk space. Now that we’ve gone over the main features of the TRD Off-Road 6th Gen 4Runner, let’s dive into what products we have in the works for transforming this off-road vehicle into your dream overland build.

Rago’s new innovative products will be redesigned for the 6th Gen 4Runner. We are currently in the works of developing a Center Mount Winch Front Bumper, Ditch Light Brackets, and Roof Rack Systems. Our 4Runner classics will also be transformed specifically for the 6th Gen, so you will have access to our tried-and-true Rear Window Molle Panels, Molle Shelf, E-MSPs, Digital Device Dash Mount, and Center Console Molle Panels. Lastly, we will be offering secondary battery boxes and our onboard air system for a complete overland 4Runner set-up.
