In 2025 we got to work on the newest 6th Gen Toyota 4Runner, bringing our full product line to the platform. If you’re looking into this platform for your own off-road or overland build, this build breakdown will help you know what you’re looking for!

We picked up the TRD Off Road in the “Underground” color. With help from our partners, we built an extremely capable 4Runner, ready for any adventure we set out on.

We partnered with KMC Wheels and Goodyear Tires to outfit this 4Runner with an excellent set of wheels and tires. We used the KMC KM719 Canyon wheels with the Satin Black and Grey Tint finish, 17X8 35mm offset. Paired with these wheels, we used Goodyear’s Wrangler Boulder MT tires (35x12.50 R17LT). This aftermarket combo gave our 4Runner a great look and increased our height and tire size. OEM ground clearance is listed as 8.1" on base SR5 models to 10.1" on the Trailhunter/TRD Pro trims. We measured our 4Runner at 10.75” clearance at the rear differential and 11.75” at the front crossmember (Wheels, Tires, Suspension, bumpers, and roof rack installed). These wheels and tires are also a great option for airing down on the trail with our Wifey Air System.

Arizona Desert Shocks partnered with us to upgrade the suspension on this 4Runner with a prototype suspension. It gave us a better lift and much smoother ride whenever we went off the pavement with this build. Keep an eye out on their site or reach out to their team about upfitting your 4Runner.

Baja Designs partnered with us for the complete lighting set up, and sPod provided the switch solution. The build prominently featured Baja’s amber lights, with a 20” amber lightbar in the front bumper, 7 total amber LP6 lights across the roof rack and ditch lights, as well as a pair of amber S2’s in the rear bumper. We also used clear rock lights from Baja in our Illuminator light mounts for our roof rack. All of these lights were wired to be controlled with the sPod universal touchscreen.

ROAM Adventure Co. provided their new Desperado Hardshell Rooftop Tent mounted to our Rago roof rack. The team at ROAM have built a super easy roof-top tent that fits perfectly on the 4Runner. We also have the optional ladder which made getting into the tent from the side easy, but would also be able to enter from the rear with our Hatch Ladder.

Both front & rear steel bumpers are made by us here in Chandler, AZ. Baja Designs helped us equip them with their amber lights to complete the amber theme of the build. Our bumpers are designed to fit the same profile as the OEM bumper, while extending your off-road utility. Our front bumper allows for mounting a 20" light bar and a full-size standard winch. Additionally, the bumper includes two D-Ring recovery points.

Up top we installed our premium roof rack and equipped it with our optional exterior molle panels so we could carry potable water & fuel containers. To keep our rig safe off-road, we installed our trailing arm and rear shock skid plates.

Our interior molle storage panel system, a staple product group for Rago, was a huge help when taking it on adventures. The windows and shelf allow you to strategically pack upward so heavier and bulkier items can be kept in the cargo area without crushing your lighter gear.
Overall, we were very excited to make this build happen and look forward to seeing our community sharing their own builds in the future! Thanks again to all of our partners on this build.

Honestly, this post seems like it was written by AI or someone in marketing using AI.
Who changes wheels and tires on a 4Runner and doesn’t mention the installed tire size.
Who changes 4Runner suspension and doesn’t mention what the new clearance is.
It mentions a rear ladder rack but there is not one on the build.
Do those bumpers do anything for approach or departure angle? Or, are they there just to provide one more place to stick a light bar. What about the winch specs and so on?
It really seems like you spent a weekend sticking as much of your stuff in a 4Runner simply to snap some photos and write the most generic 4Runner build blog post ever.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure this is an AI article.

Hi Bryan, this is Noah! I wrote this primarily to share what brands we partnered with, but let me go ahead and clear up a few points you mentioned. The wheels we used were the KMC Canyon wheels with the Satin Black and Grey Tint, 17X8 35mm offset. The tires are Goodyear Wrangler Boulder MT 35×12.50 R17LT. The OEM ground clearance is 8.1" on base SR5 models to 10.1" on the Trailhunter/TRD Pro trims. I just went back to the shop and measured our 4Runner ground clearance at 10.75” at the rear differential and 11.75” at the front crossmember. Our bumpers are designed to fit the same profile as the OEM bumper, while extending your off-road utility. Yes, the bumper can fit a 20” lightbar as well as a full-size winch, while also adding recovery points. A popular option is the WARN EVO series, but check out the bumper listing for all of our add-on suggestions. Thank you for the feedback and I’ll keep it in mind in the future!
